Classes

Class Size
Our class sizes are small in order to better focus on individual needs and to measure progress.

Science
Our Science class is equipped with appropriate Microscopes, Telescopes, Experiment Kits and Yes! Kid sized Test Tubes!!

Engineering & Mathematics
Our Math and Engineering classes have math manipulatives, structure and building blocks.

Technology
Our Technology class has brand new Computers, Tablets and a variety of LeapFrog products to learn from. We also have smart boards, projectors and TVs in our media rooms.

Music
Our music room features junior drum sets, kid size acoustic guitars, keyboards, tambourines, Maracas and music players.

Outdoor Activities
Our Outdoor play areas feature a modern swing set that accommodates 10 kids at a time, a sandbox, basket ball hoops, and a geometric dome. Scooters and a variety of other outdoor games are available to all our students.

Other Activities
Capital Kids has an extensive kid’s video and book library for all ages served at this facility.

 

ABOUT STEM

STEM is an Acronym which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM is practiced in early childhood education in everyday life.

  • SCIENCE is observing and experimenting, making predictions, asking questions, sharing discoveries and wondering how things work. Science activities include exploring water and sand, discovering the use of magnets, putting objects under microscopes and looking through magnifying glasses to count how many legs are on that centipede we just found outside.   • TECHNOLOGY is using tools, being inventive, identifying problems and making things work. Technology activities include the use of tablets, computers and working with pulleys, wheels and gears.
  • ENGINEERING is solving problems, using a variety of materials, designing, creating and building things that work. Engineering in preschool happens with teacher direction in the block area where different kinds of building blocks are explored.
  • MATH is sequencing and patterning, exploring shapes, volume and size. Math includes counting and matching shapes, measuring blocks of different shapes and sizes.
